Thanksgiving 1.0

In true form, my husband and I are having two Thanskgiving dinners.  One down, one to go!

The first was at my Mother-in-law's home.  She had almost all the sides done when we arrived Wednesday.  So Thurday morning was all about the appetizers, potatoes, and turkey (of course).  My nephew loves to help out in the kitchen.  He helped me put together the vegetable platter and the dinner rolls.

The dinner roll recipe I used was a loose translation from a recipe I found at Pionner Woman Cooks for Buttered Rosemary Rolls.  I couldn't find frozen yeast rolls in the small market in our hometown and had to substitute pizza dough.  They did not rise very much but the flavor was really good.  But then again how could you go wrong with bread, butter, salt, and rosemary!

My Mother-in-law went all out.  It was classic New England too which I love! Anyway, it was quite the spread...
Turkey with Gravy
Squash
Corn Souffle
Mashed Potatoes
Classic Stuffing
Cranberry Sauce
Creamed Onions
Fruit Salad made with Jello (not pictured)

Dessert was no small matter either.  My Mother-in-law made pumpkin pie.  My sister-in-law made cappuccino cheesecake and french apple pie.  Mu husband loved the apple pie so much that he actually tried to sneak it away from the table!  My sister-in-law said the recipe came from the classic Betty Crocker cookbook.  I am already hunting for the recipe!

Happy Thanksgiving!
