Sausage Onion Pizza

All I can say is "yum!"  I recently found the fresh whole wheat pizza dough in my local grocery store, they like to hide things sometimes.  We were not sure what we wanted for dinner and this is what ended up on the table!  We enjoyed it immensely.

Sausage Onion Pizza

1 ball of whole wheat pizza dough, rolled out
2 cloves of garlic minced
2 TBS of olive oil
2 links of spicy Italian sausage, casings removed
1 medium onion, cut into half moons
8 oz of tomato sauce (Muir Glen)
1/4 tsp of dried oregano
1/4 tsp of crushed red pepper flakes
1/2 cup of shredded mozzarella
1/2 cup of shredded cheddar

Preheat oven to 400degrees.  Spread dough over a pizza stone.  Rub garlic and olive oil into dough.  Heat a medium pan over medium heat, add the sausage and break up.  Once the meat is cooked throughout, remove and place on a paper towel lined plate.  Add the onions to the pan,  and cook until soft.  Spread sauce and spices over pizza dough, then sausage and onions evenly.  Cover pizza with cheese.  Bake for 25-30 minutes until pizza is golden brown at edges and toppings are bubbling.  Enjoy!
